FLAVOR PROFILE

Blackberries / Plums / Molasses

As one of the smallest countries in East Africa, Burundi has all the elements of a young nation with ancient traditions that make up a very rich culture.

Rather than for its beauty, it is known as a dangerous country with a wild, natural landscape. The area has ideal conditions for growing Arabica Bourbon coffee, supported by torrential rains and elevations ranging from 1,500 meters to 2,100 meters.

This coffee comes from the Buzira washer. It is located in Muruta, in an area bordering Nyungwe National Park. Located at an altitude of 1,900 to 2,100 meters, it has about 2,000 coffee trees and includes 30 producer groups representing about 3,000 farmers. The varieties produced here are mainly Bourbon, Jackson and Mbirizi.
